The new
Season
Music of the Americas
"The way to write American music is simple. All you have to do is to be
an American and then write any kind of music you wish." Virgil Thomson
quoted in Machlis: Introduction to American Music. Food for thought!
This season will contain an interesting mix of music and performers from
both sides of the Atlantic Ocean as we set out on our voyage of discovery.
We are particularly happy to welcome English cellist Guy Johnston, former
winner of the BBC Young Musician title and Canadian mezzo-soprano
Catherine Robbin; both of them have family roots in Northern Ireland.
Please read our generous subscription offer.

'A revelation...strong, considered and with a sense of the music's
inner pace and voicing that gave character and presence to even
the most austerely contrapuntal moments. Sentimentality can
be a problem for players as well, but not for Bratke. He is a gifted
recital pianist: poetic, yet never gushing."
