Vogler String Quartet The Vogler Quartet was formed in 1985 at the "Hans Eisler" Conservatoire in Berlin. Winning First Prize at the 1986 Evian International String Quartet Competition, (where the Quartet was also honoured for the best interpretation of a composition of this century) led to the launch of their international career. Their international schedule includes regular appearances at London's Wigmore Hall, the Louvre and Théatre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich, Hamburg, at the Schauspielhaus Berlin (performing a four concert cycle each year), in Vienna, New York, Kennedy Center Washington, Madrid, Lisbon, Athens, Rome, Palermo and Zurich. In the 1999/2000 season the Vogler Quartet will celebrate its 15th anniversary with Beethoven cycles in Toronto, Seville and Valencia and tours to the US and Canada. In September 2000 they make their debut in New Zealand and will tour Japan. The Vogler Quartet frequently collaborate with other prestigious soloists and quartets in chamber music: Bernhard Greenhouse and Kim Kashkashian. in Brahms Sextets; pianists Ralf Gothoni, Bruno Canino and Michael Dalberto in a cycle of five piano quintets performed in major German cities; while they were invited to join other major quartets in Beethoven cycles in 15 European cities during the last two seasons. Recordings for BMG/RCA include quartets by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Verdi, Bartok, Debussy, Ravel, Janace Berg Shostakovic This season the Quartet records the Reger Quartet Op 109 and Clarinet Quintet (with Karl Leister) for Nimbus.
