DICH LIEBE, op. 48 (A Poet's Love) 1. 2. 3. 4. Im wunderschönen Monat Mai In the beautiful month of May, When all the buds opened, love welled up in my heart. ... I told her my longing and desire. Aus meinen Tränen spriessen Robert Schumann From my tears spring many blossoms and my sighs become a choir or nightingales. As I look into your eyes all my pain and sorrow vanish; but as I kiss your lips I am completely healed. (1810-1856) And if you will love me, child, I will send you all the flowers and at your window shall be heard the song of the nightingale. Die Rose, die Lilie, die Taube, die Sonne The rose, the lily, the dove, the sun, I once loved them all blissfully. I love them no longer; I love only she who is small, gentle, pure, unique ... Wenn ich in deine Augen seh As I lay my head on your breast heavenly bliss overcomes me; but when you say 'I love you' I must weep bitterly.
