Ocr'd Text:
The British Music Society is privileged to
present another series of concerts by inter-
national artistes and is grateful to those who
I have agreed to perform here in spite of con-
tinuing difficulties.
The young cellist, Marius May, was born in
London in 1958 and has studied with Andre
Navana and Pierre Fournier. He made his
London debut in 1973 at the Wigmore Hall,
has played with most of the British orchestras
and has given recitals with Tamas Vasary and
Paul Hamburger.
The Academy of Ancient Music will be pre-
senting a programme of music by Purcell and
his contemporaries, played on instruments of
the period and sung by counter tenor James
Bowman.
The English baritone Benjamin Luxom is
well known for his performances of opera and
lieder and has recorded Victorian songs part-
nered by Andre Previn.
The New Hungarian Quartet aim to ". . .
merge the time-honoured values of middle
European musical tradition with today's youth-
ful vigour and virtuosity". Although formed
only a few years ago, they have toured exten-
sively in Europe and America, receiving wide
acclaim.
The Suk Trio from Prague is led by Josef
Suk, great-grandson of Dvorak. They are
acknowledged interpreters of Czech music.
Ocr'd Text:
Pianist John Lill now has an international
reputation, particularly for his performance of
Beethoven's music, and will be remembered
for his brilliant performances in last year's
Queen's Festival.
The group of talented young artistes who
play under the name of Dream Tiger enjoy
modern music. Their pianist, Douglas Young,
composes and arranges many of their numbers.
Although tickets are available for individual
concerts, a subscription to the series repre-
sents a considerable saving. Subscribers are
also invited to Members' Night, which this
year includes a short recital by the Guadagnini
Quartet, formed in 1975 by students at the
Royal College of Music, London, and including
Belfast-born cellist John Chillingworth.
Last year the B.R.S. had over 400 subscrib-
ing members. Only by maintaining and, if
possible, increasing their number can we con-
tinue to provide the best artistes for Belfast
audiences. PLEASE JOIN NOW!
Subscription (seven Concerts and Members'
Night), £9.00; student's subscription, £4.50;
special terms are available for schools and
technical colleges. Tickets for individual Con-
certs are also available at £2.00 each (stu-
dents £1.00).

Churchill Ltd., 33 Queen Street, Belfast BT1
