THE ARTISTS
The Testore String Quartet takes its name from
Audrey Park's violin. It is a fine example of the
craftsmanship of Carlo Guiseppe Testore. This
particular instrument was made in Milan in 1710 and
like all Testore instruments, carries the sign of the
eagle.
Since their first public performance in March
1975, the quartet have performed for schools and
music societies throughout the country. They have made
two programmes for BBCtv, and have been engaged to give
four recitals at the forthcoming Wexford Festival.
Audrey Park was born in Ayrshire Scotland. She
and her husband, Archie Collins, who comes from
Co. Armagh, have been a well-known musical team in
Ireland for some time. Audrey joined the RTE Symphony
Orchestra in 1953, her husband joining in 1954. In
1966 they both became members of the RTE String Quartet
for five years. Audrey was then made sub-leader of the
BBC Northern Ireland Orchestra in 1971. At present
she is leader of the RTE Light Orchestra, and her husband
is a member of the same Orchestra.
In
Clodagh Mc Swiney joined the RTE Symphony Orchestra
in 1962 where she was a member for five years.
1967 she joined the Utrecht Symphony Orchestra in Holland,
and later the Danish Radio Orchestra. She is now a
member of the RTE Light Orchestra and the New Irish
Chamber Orchestra.

STAITHA AUT
All three of these artists were pupils of Jaroslav
Vanacek. Aisling Drury-Byrne studied cello with Paul
Tortelier in Paris and won a 'premier prix' at the
Paris Conservatoire. She now teaches cello at the b
Royal Irish Academy of Music. She has given many solo
recitals throughout the country and recently gave a
Television performance of the Saint-Saens cello
concerto with the RTE Symphony Orchestra.
