This Quartet is so well known that little introduction is needed.
Members will recollect previous visits but to those who have not
heard it live before let us quote from The Gramophone "If you
should at any time learn that they are giving a Concert, not a 100
miles away, make the journey, you will be rewarded".
Individually the members have strong musical backgrounds, have
had brilliant careers, becoming Professors at the Prague Academy
by invitation. They joined forces in 1943 and by 1945 were firmly
established as a brilliant music making unit.

SESTETTO CHIGIANO
BRENGOLA
RICCARDI
MEUNIER
GUGLIELMO Violins
BENVENUTI
Violas
VENDRAMELLI 'Cellos
In 1960 the Quintetto Chigiano gave a B.M.S. Recital and at that
time it had taken four years to secure their services. We are even
more pleased now than then to have a visit in their new format.
The original ensemble was formed in 1939 in Siena and from that
time has held master classes in the summer and toured throughout
Europe the rest of the year.
Obviously with this number of players the choice of music is vast,
all ages and kinds of chamber music being possible.
Programme :
The programme will include the Brahms Sextet in B flat
major, Op. 18.
