Friday, October 3rd, 1958 PAUL TORTELIER (Cello) and ERNEST LUSH One of the most eminent French 'cellists, who has also established a reputation as a composer, Paul Tortelier is visiting the Society for the first time. We look for- ward with particular interest to his playing of an unaccompanied Suite by Bach. Friday, October 17th, 1958 THE PASQUIER STRING TRIO It is some years since we had the pleasure of a visit from this distinguished trio of brothers. Their repertoire is recognised as being exceptionally wide, and includes works not only by the classic and French composers, but also by contemporary international composers. Many of these works are dedicated to these players, including the Roussel Trio which is to be performed here. Friday, October 31st, 1958 CARMEN PRIETTO (Soprano) and HUBERT DAWKES Carmen Prietto is an American soprano of Spanish descent, and as is to be expected, is highly successful in interpreting Spanish music. She does not, however, limit herself to this field, and her programme will also include Italian, German and French songs.

Friday, November 28th, 1958 THE CARMIRELLI STRING QUARTET We are very happy to announce that we have been able to secure these brilliant artists for a return visit. Those who were fortunate enough to attend their recital last year will remember it as perhaps the out- standing event of the musical season. Their superb artistry and warmth of personality promise another memorable evening this year. Friday, January 16th, 1959 ANNIE FISCHER (Pianoforte) This Hungarian pianist has recently come to the fore in the international scene. She is perhaps better known in the British Isles for her excellent recordings, and so we look forward to hearing this outstanding artist on her first personal appearance in this country. Friday, January 30th, 1959 CAMPOLI (Violin) and JEANNIE REDDIN This fine artist is no stranger to Belfast, and we still remember with pleasure the recital which he gave for us some years ago. Well known for his wonderful concerto performances, Campoli is no less successful as a recitalist, and we hope that he will include in his programme some of the shorter works in the violin repertoire which he has made so much his own.

He has gathered together a group of singers of his own choosing to form the ideal vocal ensemble for the performance of authentic and stylistic interpretation of English and Italian madrigals and polyphony. Friday, March 6th, 1959 THE MELOS ENSEMBLE (Wind Ensemble and Piano) This is the second appearance of this talented group of instrumentalists.
