Irmgard Seefried has been a leading singer of the Vienna State Opera since 1942. She was first heard in London in 1947, with the Vienna State Opera Company, and was acclaimed for her singing in "Figaro" and "Cosi fan Tutte". Her Lieder recitals at the Wigmore Hall showed further that she is an artist of the very front rank. Her gramophone record- ings alone are sufficient to arouse the highest expectations. It is a particular pleasure to us that Mme. Seefried has asked for Frederick Stone as her accompanist. His playing is well known and appreciated here, and on his first public appearance in Belfast since the war he will be sure of a warm welcome. MONDAY, 22nd JANUARY, 1951 LECTURE by DR.
