Full Members, £2 SUBSCRIPTIONS Junior Members (under 18) and Students, £1 All Concerts will be held at the Tempest Anderson Hall. Concerts are open to non-members on payment of 50p per seat per Concert. There is no booking of seats before Concerts, the only reservations being for Officials of the Society on Duty, Press Reporters, and for Members of the Society who, by reason of age or infirmity, require special service. Doors will open at 7.0 for 7.30 p.m. Cars should not be brought into the Museum Gardens except in special cases by arrangement with the Secretary. Adequate parking facilities are, however, available in the Corporation Car Park at the corner of Lendal and Museum Street and in Marygate. Subscriptions are now due and should be sent to the Hon. Treasurer in the enclosed envelope which does not require a stamp. (Existing members will find their tickets enclosed with this brochure. Thursday, 21st October, 1971 ENLOC WU (Piano) As a result of many requests from members of the Society, this is a return visit to York for Enloc Wu. Born in Shanghai but receiving most of her musical educa- tion in England, Enloc Wu is a former winner of the National Federation of Music Society's contest for young artists and has won many other prizes. Her concert was, for many members, one of the highlights of the 1960/1970 season. Thursday, 11th November, 1971 TALICH STRING QUARTET JAN TALICH (Violin) JAN KVAPIL (Violin) KAREL DOLEZAL (Viola) and EVZEN RATTAY (Cello) This is the first visit to Britain of the Talich String Quartet. The Quartet was formed in 1962 and first went abroad in 1964 and since then has had many tours in Europe. Owing to illness, however, they were forced to cancel their British tour in 1969 when we had hoped to have them at the B.M.S. They have gained a wide European reputation as outstanding exponents of Czech music. The Orchestra has become a major feature of British Musical life and this is the second visit to the Society of members of the Orchestra and gives the Society an all too infrequent opportunity to hear a larger group. After forming the Quartet when they were at the Royal Academy of Music and studying under Sidney Griller they have, for some time, been resident at Keele University. They were the first English Quartet ever to win a prize at the Liege International Quartet Competition.
